Since January 1, 2023, the Bavarian Natural History Museum has strengthened the Bavarian State Collections of Natural History (SNSB) as a separate department. Together with the BIOTOPIA Lab, it is now part of one of the oldest and, with around 33 million collection items, one of the largest natural history research collections in the world. Objects and research from the SNSB are an integral part of the new museum.
