Nature Designs - Buildings and Ecosystems

The first exhibition in the Future Lab: What strategies have animals developed to shape their environment? What materials do they use for their constructions and what impact does this have on the larger ecosystem? And what can humans learn from other life forms about our own construction and production processes?

BIOTOPIA Lab in the Botanical Garden

The BIOTOPIA Lab is a dynamic exhibition space, an event platform and an experimental workshop all at the interface of science, art, design and culture. With workshops, raised garden beds, an experimental space, changing mystery objects and special exhibitions as well as interdisciplinary events, it arouses curiosity about the topics of the future Bavarian Natural History Museum.

The new building of the Bavarian Natural History Museum is being built next to the existing Museum Mensch und Natur, nestled between the Nymphenburg Palace Park and the Botanical Garden.

The Bavarian Natural History Museum will be our exhibition and communication platform for the fields of natural history, life sciences, environment and health. Attractive exhibitions and programs invite you to change your perspective. They increase the visibility of the SNSB’s collections and encourage dialogue between visitors and researchers.

With proven elements of the current Museum Mensch und Natur, fascinating objects and research findings from the Bavarian State Collections of Natural History, as well as the ideas of BIOTOPIA – as the project was formerly named – the planning team is developing the Bavarian Natural History Museum for you.
